Tire deflation advice for sand travel
#21
Well thanks guys, but never had to deflate the tires. The OBX 4x4 beach was flat in most places so no problem. We stayed just under 8 miles up the beach so she got a good workout. With the wife and the dog, all but one time, the speed was slow, the limit is 35 mph..15 when people or horses are within 300 yards, and had no problems even in the ruts. (25 or less most of the time). Going over the dunes is always a bit scary, but never a problem this time.. and yes I have a new UNUSED shovel (from Corolla) in the garage. :-)

I had problems up in Corova the first time I went out. I turned the traction control off and all was good. I didn't let the air out of my tires this time but it wasn't that bad. Depends on the beach.

I was just up at Corolla this summer w/ some friends in expo setup Tacoma's. They thought I was nuts going out there with full pressure... it was fine. No issues what so ever. If I had run into issues... deflate while on the sand. Its not hard!
