Tire Advice
2010 King Ranch
275/55 20
Considering BF Goodrich top dog, TA KO. At $400 a pop for the 285/55 20's I am suffering a bit of sticker shock. Rep at Discount Tire showed me the Falken Rocky Mountain ATS in 275/55 20 for $230 each.
I need a reliable tire as I travel off road often in a very remote area. I have considerd the other guys also..NITTO, Thompson etc, but have ruled them out.
I am leary of the Falken...comments from the gallery....

Have you looked at http://www.generaltire.com they got reasonable prices and i hear nothing but good things so far. I am looking at the Grabber 35x12.5r17 for my 2011 XLT 4x4

I've heard very good things about the Kelly Safari tires... they look pretty aggressive and are very reasonably priced. You can get them here:

Just picked the Raptor size for grins... I'm sure you can find them in the size you want.

Off road rebel
I work at discount tire, I wouldn't suggest these tires unless they are load range d or higher. Other wise they are weak and useless. Also take a look at kumho Mohave at. They are a step up, from the rocky mountains.

If I were you, I would bump up to a 305/50-20 tire. The difference in diameter is only .32% (well within the safety zone), the wider section width would look good, you would have more tire options, and according to this "other" forum they should fit...

That said, I would look at the Nitto Terra Grappler, Toyo Open Country AT, or the General Grabber AT2 (looks most similar to the BFG). I had Falkens on a Honda Accord (10 years ago) and was NOT happy with the quality.

Are you wanting all terrains or m/t tires. Without a lift or level you are kinda limited in choices with 20" wheels plus there is not much sidewall protection. Maybe you could run a 33x12.50 or an LT275/65 m/t tire like Toyo m/t. But I doubt it. Your best bet would be to go with a premium all terrain like BF Goodrich All terrain in the LT285/55 size. As you have seen that size is very expensive. You might be better off installing a 2" leveling kit and running a cheaper more mass produced tire size. which would offer you much more sidewall in your tire and be better offoad. IMHO
