Default strengthening 1997-2003 front suspension

Hey everyone,
My '97 f150 currently sits on a rancho 4" lift like this one: http://tal4x4.com/rancho-3-4in-suspe...rd-f150/rs6489
also, tires are 35in toyo AT's
has 130k on the odo, not sure when lift+oversize tires were installed, but

off-roading this front suspension setup is well... pathetic
I'm looking for ways to do the following:
-improve suspension travel
-improve durability (eats balljoints like crazy, power steering struggles, loses alignment quickly)

...until the budget reaches this: http://www.dixonbrosracing.com/content/view/13/3/

what can I do with the suspension I have?

Buy an f250. Half ton IFS doesn't lend itself well to bigger tires
