Default Southern California Off-Road Areas

I live in Southern Orange County, CA. I was wondering if anybody knew of any good trails around my area. I have done Holy Jim 20 too many times. I would prefer an area with trail and some open area to just have fun. If anybody knows of some good places that would be great. Thanks!

Anza Borrego is a huge park with a variety of things to do. Ocotillo Wells, Superstition Mountain, and Truckhaven are basically part of the same huge park. Take I-5 south and 78 east. Or take I-10 east and 86 south. Most of the park is open offroading. If the area is closed, there will be a sign or fence.

As someone mentioned, Hungry Valley is pretty cool. I'm going this weekend, and UnleashedFord is going with a few guys next weekend. Take I-5 north and and take the Gorman exit.

The Big Bear area is lots of fun. Lake Arrowhead has a lot of trails, too. Some if these trails are closed during winter, but I was up there a few weeks ago and it was awesome.

If you haven't been to Death Valley, it is the best! You'll want to go for at least 2 nights, maybe 3 or 4.

All those are great. Add:

- Stoddard Valley area out I-15 near Barstow; the east side of the freeway is a state OHV area, the west side of the freeway (take the Hodge Road exit) is BLM land open for exploring, camping, and shooting.

- San Gabriel Canyon, expecially if you like MUD!

- Mojave National Preserve

Have a great time out there!
