Depends on where you go.

Shop around. Where I live, I could only find one shop willing able to do it.
I found a few that would do the rear-end, but didn't know how to do the front so they passed. I also had one shop quote me over $5000, which told me he didn't want my business.

I finally ended up going to the 4WheelParts on the other side of town(25 miles away)

For me 4.88 gears and Edge Evo CS was $2400 out the door with lifetime warranty on the gears and work.

Oh and be weary of shade tree mechanics. I tried to get a hold one guy for a week, no answer ever, just voice mail. So I drove to his shop location only to discover he'd been out of business for a few years. There was a completely different company in his old location. After my truck was at 4WheelParts, he called me back. I told him he was too late. He said he does the work out of his garage and was on vacation. Then he started to bad mouth 4WheelParts. If he was such a great mechanic, then why was he out of business. Turns out he's one of those die hard pirate 4x4 type guys.

Good luck with your search!

Is the front end that hard to regear? I'm getting 35s soon but I have the 5.4 I know I'm going to be ok with my 3.55 gears but it's not optimal since she's gonna stuggle more on the hills. I was thinking of doing most of it my self and just have a friend do the hard stuff since I know a few guys that work at a shop.

Ask your friends. I'm not sure since I haven't torn down the front end of our vintage trucks. I'm sure with the right tools, diagrams, and willingness it can't be too hard. Probably just a pain.

Best advice given on this thread was MoDy....... Shop around and stay away from shade tree mechanics that you dont' personally know. If you go cheap, you may end up paying for it in a big way in the long run. Good luck and enjoy.....
