it sounds like your diff works like it should when your turning left. You need new clutch packs. I would put regular cheap ones in with that many miles.

With Fords Trac Loc, when you step on it you get push to both tires.

What the clutches do, is simply allow you to make right and left hand turns without churning the inside tire, because the outside tire on a turn is travelling farther, doing more RPM's than the inside tire. If it wasn't for this simple law of geometry they would have solid axles in the back, and saved a lot of expense.

I've seen clutch packs worn out at 30,000 miles & 70,000 miles but a friend of mine has a 2002 F150 with 190,000 on his truck, and the differential works fine.

It just depends on how it's life has been spent. I imagine you could do enough figure-8's in a parking lot to wear out a set in a week if you put effort into it !

Good luck, and Merry Christmas !

Default Clutch packs

Anybody know where I can purchase the clutch packs for a limmited slip Diff? Every parts digram I have seen does not break down the carrier and I really dont want to buy a Tru-track if I dont have to since I dont plan on keeping the truck much longer. I want the Eco boost!

Assuming it's a Ford truck, your local dealer can get them for you - nothing like keeping an old thread going, is there ?

Old thread, old man, same old issue! Its probably a Ford F150 otherwise I am on the wrong forum . It's a good idea to put some more information in my title so thanks for the reminder! I kinda figured FORD would be a good place to go for ford parts but was hoping to find them from one of the sponsored vendors for this forum. By the way, how is Missoula these days? I grew up there and sure miss the summers in the big sky country!
