There were some Raptor guys that ran on top perch and hammered the firewall seam flat. The only way to ensure clearance at full compression is to actually cut a section out of the firewall and replace it with a rounded piece that allows the tire to come up about 2 more inches - at least that's what the fab shops have been doing.

Yeah yeah..I'm the noob that's gonna stir the pot with his first post. Anyway, I have a '13 F150 FWD that I want to turn into a pre runner. I live in Vegas and I'm always out in the desert riding or shooting so I might as well have a truck thats capable of some high speed fun.
Here's what I want to know and discuss - REAL travel numbers for 2009+ FWD F150s. I'm posting this here because I see that at least Brenthel and VDF are here which are two options for me.
I know some of the guys (RPG) claim 19" of travel, H&M 18", etc. yet I've never seen proof.
Can someone give me real verifiable "useable" travel numbers?
Help out the noob, thanks.

All of this comes down to your intended use of the truck. If you're trying to build a purpose built prerunner then any of the LT kits(alpha1, RPG, HM, brenthal) will give you 17-18" of usuable wheel travel before cv bind. However these require a large amount of fabrication.
A good mix of great performance and streetability is a RPG or Alpha1 mid travel kit. You get 14-15" in a mostly bolt on application and we move alot more of these kits and they tear up most anything.
We have verified all these numbers personally.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

Sweet man, I saw that after I responded and kept browsing. BK is a solid front end. We just hooked up a guy with a new Alpha1 midtravel kit and hes out in vegas. We swing through vegas on runs all the time. We should hit some trails when your truck is done.
