I just have to figure out if my winch will fit...it is a powerplant 12k so it has a small compressor on top of the winch...but from the looks of things there should be room. OP not trying to hijack your thread just throwing the thoughts out there. These guys on this forum generally have great advice.
Nah, its all good I am still trying to decide what I want to do. I think I may rear mount it on the factory hitch just as a means to pull me out of situations or for the occasional pull tree stump out of ground scenarios.

Hey TonyG...did you decide which way to go yet?
I went ahead and mounted my Warn 12k HD pwr plant to the protable hitch mount that I had. Got the front all done and set up, hope to get the wire run for the back this week. I like the idea of being able to just put the winch on when needed and where needed. Gonna be going with synthetic rope to reduce the weight of that puppy a bit.

Just letting you know that the hitch mount is only rated for a maximum of 9000 lbs and that is pulling completely straight. If you try to pull that on an angle it is gonna bend or break.

Yes I know all of this...but thanks anyway...I already had the winch from when I had my F250 and I agree it is not the most perfect setup...but it is what I had and the quickest way to make things functional...I am older(53) and my days of doing crazy crap and getting into serious trouble are over. I only have the winch to help other folks when needed and just in case I do get stuck on the land. That thing ways over 100 lbs and I just can't justify having that weight on the front of my truck all the time. Eventually I will go to a permanent set with up with a lighter winch, but for now I will just have to be smart about my positioning...using pulleys and ****** blocks to make sure I am pulling straight. My instructions pretty much said I would be good as long as I don't get beyond that 45 degree mark, but the goal is to stay as straight as possible. Heck I will probably use the air compressor more than the winch.
