Default Question

I have a 2010 f150 4x4 5.4L v8. I have a 6in lift on there right now with 275 60 r20 tires and I am wanting to go to 35s. I have been doing some research on it and I see some people say I need to regear and some people say I dont need to. I am currently 3.55 gear ratio (I believe). I do not tow anything and I maybe drive 50 miles a day in the city. I barely travel but I am going to kansas in july. Am I ok going to 35s without regearing? Will it it mess up my tranny? I hope im posting this in the right place this is my first day.

Well, you do not NEED to regear no. People regear because it is harder for the engine to turn bigger tires so when u regear it makes it so that it is just as easy (or close to) for the engine to turn the tires. Its will not hurt the truck if you regear and it will not hurt the truck if you don't. I personally would not regear due to $. If you do regear remember that since yours is a 4x4 you will need to regear the front the same as the back.
And welcome to the forum.

Most people I know who have 35's usually don't regear, unless it's on something smaller like a ranger. It's when you go much bigger, like 40's or 44's, that it's more of a necessity.
