Ray, definitely on the commo gear. i'm looking for a modded 10 meter on top of everything else.

that cucv on ebay is tempting. i'm going to look at it just to see how a cucv under 50k got out the door if nothing else.

i'm almost certainly sticking with the truck i've got now. the money is a real constraint, and behind that is a hard stop requirement for reliability. i'm sure a "take no prisoners" truck could be built, but how much time would it spend broke on a trail somewhere? if lexus made a truck i'd get it - that's the reliability i'm aiming at.

I don't think a F150 can do your job.. all the weight your talking about. Stock suspension can't handle that. I take back the F250 comment. You need a F350 diesel or a Military truck..

I'm the third. I understand your fear, but I believe you are allowing your fear to grow and manifest itself into something that is just not going to happen. There will be no economic and or social collapse. I know you do not trust the current government, but besides what the right wing media are feeding to you, there is not a lot of difference between this administration and the last. Do not allow the lies of the media (either side) make you so paranoid and miserable you forget to enjoy your life. You only have one.

With every new administration, one side or the other feels like the sky is falling.

Besides that...I think your idea for a survival truck is really cool. I'd go with a diesel F250 as well. You could "practice" by going camping/hunting/trapping in remote areas. Come on up to Montana, I'm sure you can find plenty of places to camp.

For what it's worth, I used to feel like you do, 10+ years ago. Then, I realized life was too short to waste it being miserable, and worrying about the government. I vote, I work, I pay my taxes, I live my life, and I'm happy.
