Most good Mud tires suck on ice. For ice you need a winter compound tire with sipes. I run AT in the winter. Unfortunately a mud tire is not a good all season tire in climates where it snows. A long lasting mud tire will not do you any good in the ditch.
After about 30,000 any mud tire has served is useful life. The lugs are rounded so it is useless off road and they are so short that they are stiff so on the street they loose their grip. Specially when it rains.

Everything sucks on Ice...unless you have studded tires.
