Default Offroad capabilities Ford f-150

Hi everyone, my name is Albert and I'm a 21 y/old from the island Curacao.
I currently own a Jeep XJ which is my daily driver but also my work car and
offroad vehicle.

I'm thinking about selling it because of work but I still want to be able to offroad.
Note that I'm also a member of an offroad club on the island.

I know little about the possible setups for an f-150 but for now I'm wondering,
What are the offroad capabilities of a v8 powered f-150 4x4 when compared
to a 98' XJ.

My offroading mostly consists of steep hill climbs but these hills are known for pulling rear axles.

Also, my work load consists of boats and boat parts so that is also something that I'll have to keep in my.

Regards,
Albert Jr.

An F150 will do anything a stock XJ will do, and more with some basic mods like lift/level, and tires. You may be able to sneak in tighter spaces with the XJ, due to size, but I've found all of my F150's to be extremely capable trucks, even in stock form.

Thankyou, space is indeed something that I'm a bit worried about especially
with backing up.

Are there any links besides wiki where I can read more about the Ford's suspension ?

Watch some youtube videos of the truck in action. All F150s have a solid rear axle with leaf springs, and all of them have independent front suspensions all the way back to 1980. 1997-2003 have torsion bars, 2004 to present have coil-over shocks.

The straight Front Axle on your XJ is a big advantage over any IFS...

Very true, I didn't know that the f-150 had IFS.
It doesn't say anything on the wiki page.

Interesting, I've seen a few videos and they sure look capable.
The weight worries me a bit though.

It's more because of the steepness of the hills we climb.

Buy the Ford...Lift/Tire/Armor it...Keep the XJ for Off Road Use Only (won't get much selling or trading it in). Then you have a great daily driver that "can" go offroad AND an OffRoad Only vehicle that you don't have to worry about cosmetic damage or breaking as your only vehicle.

I wish I could because I do love my XJ.
Maybe buy the f150, sell the XJ and buy another XJ when the time is right.
Maybe I'll just have to carpool with someone whenever there's an offroad trip.
