Default off set question

I have a 2011 F150 Lariat with 20 inch Rockstar 2 rims and33 inch Toyo Open Country mud terrain tires on it. Went to a shop today to get a 6inch BDSsuspension lift kit with Fox Shocks and they told me I have to buy all new rimsbecause my off set will not work with a 6 inch lift. I think they said I need a-12 off set and right now I have a +18. I have no clue about the off set’s isthis true or are they trying to scam me. I just bought my rims and tires likesix months ago.

You can run a spacer on your rims to get the needed offset. You need a 0 offset on a 9" wide rim to clear 35s on that kit
