well I officially pulled the trigger today. 17x9 XD Addicts, matte black +18, as I was planning initially. however, I had a last-minute change of heart. decided on 285/70R17s and was torn between the Cooper Discoverer STT Pro and the Goodyear DuraTrac, but after weighing out the pros and cons, I was leaning toward the DuraTrac because of its much lower weight (53lbs vs. 61lbs for the Cooper) but then I heard a few complaints about the DuraTrac sidewall being very easy to gouge on rocks due to the fact that the sidewalls are only 2-ply. I did a little more looking around and noticed that the DuraTracs are frequently compared to the Mickey Thompson Baja P3 ATZ, which was similarly priced, and very close in weight, while having an extra sidewall ply, so I went with those instead. I'm also going to order a 1.5" Autospring and go back to stock rear blocks (currently on a 2.5" and 3" rear blocks) so that hopefully my ball joint angles will be a little better. I can't wait to get all my new goodies!

I live in Colorado and use my truck in the mountains all year. I've taken it way back hunting and camping etc. I used to have a Tacoma and a built Jeep Wrangler both are much better because of width. I don't really take the 150 out wheeling because of how narrow so many trails are.

On a side note I hate my bilstein level and 3" block and have been researching options other than a full lift since I want to keep it in the garage. Let me know how yours turns out.

thanks for the insight, I guess I'm hoping not to find myself getting carried away with a trail my truck doesn't fit through, but who knows. I'm still weighing out suspension options, kind of leaning toward Icon stage 1, not really sure if I need to blow the extra $700 on the control arms or not. I have heard King and Boss don't ride particularly well and Foxes seem to need rebuilding the most frequently. I'll do a bit more research before I pull the trigger on anything.

Just don't try following any jeeps.

There is plenty a stock 4x4 truck can do off road. Just take it easy while you learn the limitations. If you feel you must modify the truck, off road tires and a self recovery winch will do more than any lift kit ever made.
