Default New Truck and Houston Area Offroading

I recently bought a 2010 Screw Lariat with a 5.4 with 4x4 and a 6.5 bed. I was wondering how it performs offroad? I haven't seen much about 6.5 beds on the offroad sections and around the internet.

Also, for any Houston area people, I was wondering if yall know any good places to go offroad. I don't want to do anything crazy, like rock crawling and the such. I mainly and looking for some trails or shallow mud spots that aren't too technical and that a stock or semi-stock f150 could handle.
I've read about General Sam's in the Huntsville area, which isn't super far, but I worry about my trucks ability to get through their tough mudding spots. Also if anyone has been there, do they have any trails without any significant drops or inclines that my long wheelbase truck could handle?
I've also heard about Hidden Falls, which seems to have some easy trails, but also has some very negative reviews about the people. Anyone have any personal experience?

Thanks,
Ross

Congrats on the truck!

Do you have stock or aftermarket suspension?

When say mud, Do you mean like real mudding? Should I be concerned about the occasional muddy pond or the like? In case its not obvious, this my first experience with atruck, let alone any offroading other than on an ATV.

I won't lie, I don't know for sure if it was modified by any previous owner, but I haven't changed the suspension myself.

I'm sure Texas has some 4 wheel Roads.
Mud is tough on your Brake Pads,, Trans, etc. It gets everywhere.
I did some Muddling in Vietnam. Five Ton hauling Ammo. to our Battery's, 8" & 175's. in the Central Highlands. I had to depend on it.
If you like the mud, have Fun.
If this is your First 4x4 I would learn what you can do with it.
Just my $.02 Cents

General Sams definitely popular.

If you're not scared of the beach (salty air and sand on truck), Crystal Beach on the Bolivar Peninsula is good during the day. Just a ferry ride from Galveston.
