New member, advice on practical tires vs overkill?
So I just picked up my first F150, a 2011 Screw ecoboost xlt. Its got that silly chrome package, but thats besides the point. The last few days I have been cruising through the Forums on this site, made me a believer! This is such a great community. Now to the point!
Like any self-respecting man, I want the stink-bug stance gone and bigger meats! Im trying to find a fine line between Smart and SICK! My brain tells me a 2 inch leveling kit (truxx, or some other hockey puck style) or these Bilstein 5100's I keep hearing about (How do these compare to the other level kits?)
I have decided on a set of 17" v-tec wheels (black of course) but im not sure what width to get?
The big struggle is do I go with a 285/70/17 or a 315/70/17?
The pictures I have seen online dont due the sizes justice. Im aiming for an aggressive stance without filling the wheel wells to a point where the truck looks stuffed. Obviously smaller is better on the wallet, but another 200$ is worth avoiding regret. Please Help!
I have a 2.5" Rough Country Leveling Spacer with 285/70/18 (34.1") Toyo Open Country M/T's. With proper rotation it's estimated to get between 50-60k out of them. It has been plenty for anything I have ever thrown at it. (Great for trail riding out to hunting grounds and those sticky situations)

Thanks for the reply. That truck looks pretty awesome. Did you consider the bilstein shock lift option? I thought the 285 was a 33. What's that make the 295? 34.5?

Also go did you mount those lights... looks great
It depends on the company that makes the tire. The Toyo 275/70/18 is 33.4", the 285/70/18 is 34.1", and the 285/75/R18 is 35.1", Just refer to the tire manufacturer. I did consider the bilstein shock option but was on a budget when I first got my truck and was able to put the level on for $80 (self install). If the point comes where I need to redo my shocks I might consider the Bilsteins.
