Default Need help choosing a lift. 97-03 f150

I have a 2001 F 150 4x4 and i want around a 4"-5" lift. Most of my driving is on the road but, i drive it up and down the beach 1-3 times a week to fish? I want to fit a 35.5" x 12.5" and im having trouble picking a lift kit. I was thinking about the 4" rough country lift becuase i dont have much money to spend and i dont do any crazy off roading just driving up and down the beach, but ive heard some bad things and was woundering about the quality of the lift and the ride. Please let me know what you think of that rough country lift or another reasonably priced 4"-5" lift.

leveling kit and body lift would be a pretty cheap way to go if your doin the work yourself since you can get a body lift for a lil over 200 and a leveling kit with new torsion keys for pretty cheap. or you could b really cheap and crank the stock torsion bar keys all the way like me lol

That was my first thought, but i want to see how much i can do a suspension lift first. Did you regear, my axle code is H9 i think that is 3.55, do i need to regear for 35's.

you should if possible. not only do you get some of power back, but there is a lot less ware on your transmission and or clutch if you have a manual transmission. if you don't want to go too high with the gears, at least get some 4.10s

If you want the same gearing ratio that you currently have, compare the percentage difference in your old tire size and new tire size. if your tire size increases by say... 20%. then it would probably be a good idea to increase your gearing 20% as well.

Example = if you start with a 29" tire and go to a 35" tire, that is an increase of about 17%. If you have 3.55 gears, increasing them by 17% would give you a stock gear ratio if you had 4.15 gears. Ford makes 4.10 gears so thats darn close.

Just something to think about
