I recently bought a 2009 f150 with the 4.6 l . I did the basic modifications drop in k/n aftermarket exhaust and got it custom tuned. now I want more height. I have a 2 inch leveling kit on it right now. I have 315/70r/17 bfg ko ( not my choice of tire came with truck hate those tires) they will rub when I turn hard and hit a bump. I hate rubbing. So my question is there something I can do to add a couple more inches or should I drop the leveling kit and get a lift , or just get a body lift? I am open to all suggestions except just trim the fender lol . What is a spindle lift can it be added to my leveling kit ? Also what about a upgraded upper control arm can that add inches? I saw a 3 inch lift with coil spacers and a upper control arm . So could I just buy a different control arm and get the clearance I need .

you have many options of lifting.
Coilovers will put you at about 3" of lift
strut lift where you can choose from 4" up to 12"and have space to get bigger tires.

Usually not recommended to go higher than 2.5" without an actual lift kit, where is it rubbing? could get new wheels with a little offset to get the tires away

on the plastic under the bumper. I think I can trim it a little but I really didn't wanna trim it. I have aftermarket rims on it already. brand new mayhems. im thinking 33s might look small. I was wondering maybe narrower tire might help. It might cut down on the arc. I was thinking just a inch body lift but not sure

Hello, I know this is my first post, but Ive been lurking for awhile. I have the Ranch quicklift leveling shocks and I got 315/70/17 tires on mine with it. The trimming is just that silly plastic airdamn. Took about 30 seconds with a sawzall. Ill get some pictures.

You have four options:

1) body lift (i don't like this option but hey, its still there)

2) 4in lift spindles made by baja designs. Great product and a solid upgrade over stock, but does make your front track width wider by 1.4in so the wheel will poke out more. Solves your problem, stronger than stock, looks good. You'll need to add a rear block so you don't have that "cali lean"

3) lift kit. Get a 4in or 6in lift kit and the problem is solved as well.

4) trim or remove the plastic. I have no front air dam or bumper valance on my truck and i love the way it looks. you can always put it back on, and its free to take it off haha

It all depends on what you're ready to spend. You could do a 6" RCX lift for 1200( if you install it) or you could do a body lift. I just did a 3" body lift for a grand, installed. A lot of people say don't, but I have no issues with mine. I wouldn't go with a 3" leveling kit, it puts too much strain on you uca's and axle angles. If you're not wanting to go to high, throw a 4" lift on it. Plenty of options out there.

thank you for yalls help. I was trying to stay away from a lift kit for gas mileage but hey cant look sexy without paying some kind of price. appreciate all the info.

It's not the lift kit that hurts mileage, it's the size of the tires you put on with a lift. You could put a 6 inch lift in your truck with stock tires (not that you'd want to, unless you own a chevy then that's probably all they'll clear) and not lose much fuel mileage at all if any. It's the extra mass and distance the tires cause that hurt mileage and even then, it's not as much as you'd think. I was pleasantly surprised
