Default Need Assistance with Bigger Tires and Rims

Ok guys, so here is my dilemma: went to discount tire to look at tires and saw Nittos Ridge Grappler on 35x13.5R20LT and completely loved them. So started looking at rims too and I am between Fuel Assault D546 or the Fuel Ambush D555.

After giving me prices he told me that 35 won't fit unless I lift the truck and cut off the inside of the bumper and back. I currently have a 2.5" leveling kit (rough country) with stock 18" rims. So he told me that I could get a 275x65R20 Nittos and that they would fit. Problem is that the tire just got reduced over 1" and I really like the foot print and width of the 35's.

So my question is this: If I get the Fix 2.0 performance coil-over + rear 2.0 and raise it to the max 2", will I be able to get the 35?! Price tag just went up considerably because of the shocks (1200 plus install). Or is there another way. I really do not want to put a lift kit on the truck.

What do you all think?!

Thanks

New info: Found, on ebay, rancho quickly lift front struts and shocks for 599.99! Anybody used them?!

What year is your truck? I have a 2016 and am running 35x12.5's on +18 offset wheels with a 2" level. I would have rubbed the front crash bars, but I swapped sides so I don't rub anywhere. Discount Tire is probably correct, it would be very hard to fit a 13.5" tire on any rim with just a leveling kit and not rub. If you keep the offset close to factory, you'll probably rub the UCA's. If you go with a more aggressive offset, then you'll probably rub the crash bars and the edges of the fenders.

You could run a 4" Rough Country lift for about $1200 plus install.

I have a 2013 Lariat with the Rough & Country 2.5" leveling kit. So I could maybe swing the 12.5 then?

Oh yeah, just don't go crazy on the wheel offset. My buddy has a '14 with a 2" level, 35's, and a 0 offset wheel. The fender was trimmed just a bit and the wheel liner was pulled back. Looks great!

That's fine. A 35x12.5x17 and a 35x12.5x20 are the exact same size tire, you'll just get more sidewall with the 17's.

Thanks a lot man. Thatreally helped. Now, i need to decide if i should stay with 18 or 20. Any thought?! I know that 20's will be more expensive and heavier but really want to have 20. BUT, if i can save some money, that sould be great too

Do you like more rim and less tire, or more tire and less rim? For me, it depends on the rim and how my suspension is set up. 18's will be cheaper and will ride just a touch better. A 35x12.5x17 BFG KO2 is $277/tire at Discount Tire, and a 35x12.5x20 BFG KO2 is $309/tire. That makes no sense to me, the 17's have more rubber than the 20's yet they cost less? Now the rims I bought were $190 each where the 20's would have been $275 each, that makes sense to me. It's your truck, make it however you want.

In all honesty, this will be the first time that I would buy rims & tires for any of my vehicles (i bought tires in the past but always stockers). So it has been hard to pick up rims that I want. The current OEM that I have are stocks and really do not like chrome, so been pondering to get rid of them. Now to some numbers:

Nitto Grappler 35x12.5018LT are $316
Nitto Grappler 35x12.5020LT are $330

So for $15 more, I can get less tire. Now the rims is a total different thing. I am looking at almost $150 more per rim for the 20's. So I guess I will stick with the 18's.

my truck came with 20s. I put 285/65s on them, then changed my mind and went with a 17x9 with 285/70s on them, then changed my mind again and went to another 20 with a 35x12.50 on them. now I'm planning on going up to a 6" lift and want 37s and can't decide if I'm going to do 20s, 22s, or 17s. I'm indecisive.
