Default Mud holes or trails/hill climbs

A couple of us were talking last night and it was a split decision between us on which was worse for the truck. Which is worse for your truck playing in the mud or doing some trail rides/ hill climbs? Why?

Mud by far, it gets into everything. Im still finding mud in spots on my Ranger from 4 years ago when I did the mud runs with it. I stay out of the mud now.

Mud is bad, but I also worry about sand!!! If that gets in your ball joints and "moving" parts it is just like sandpaper and will just eat everything up, but mud is pretty bad, I don't care how much time and money you spend washing your truck you will always find mud somewhere on it

Good point about the sand.

Mud for sure. You'll never get it all off. I had an old K5 and mud kill my starter and alternator. My buddy got stuck in mud and I blew out my rear end pulling him out and mud contributed to me blowing the head gasket in there too lol

id have to agree with where this is going.

mud has a tendancy to get into everything, powertrain, suspension, ect...

where as heavy grade trails are just tough on the power train for the most part.

I'd say mud probably... Engine temps go up rpm's are usually up tranny temps are up plus like said before it works it's way into every moving part. Gritty mud can destroy parts pretty quickly. But then again so can hill climbs and trails where the gritty dirt/sand gets everywhere. But overall I'd have to say mud is worse
