Default 4.6l xlt

How could i make a 4.6l xlt stock 2x4 work truck into a off road vehicle?
Besides converting it too 4x4, and maybe adding better suspension?
How much would it cost to covert to 4x4 and is it worth it?
Would a superchip help with off road?

converting it to 4x4 really isnt worth it b/c of all the parts and labor you have to invest into it plus the risk of something not ever working right again you would need a new tranny, transfer case, front and rear driveshafts, front differential, and all the front suspension off a 4x4, and someone skilled enough to weld it all in straight. i would get a limited slip for the rearend, or if your serious into offroading a rear locker. and some sort of suspension to get a little more ground clearance. then a offroad bumper that has winch capabilities. and agressive tires. a chip doesnt help offroading either. a 2wd with a limited slip and a winch can be a very capable offroad truck

Agreed, you can never compensate for 4x4 with a few mods on the truck. Sure you will be fine in some dirt or even a little mud, but if the grade gets too steep, rocky or just plain slick you are done. Where I live the winters are too nasty to see many 4x2s around, rear wheel drives just don't work to well when it comes to snow and ice. If you are worried about mpg, I don't think there would be much of a difference between the 4x2 and the 4x4. I get somewhere around 15 city and 21-22 hwy.

it does only if your lucky and you have a lot of money invested in tires, engine power, differential gears, and drivers experience and some times that doesnt even help

so before investing a lot of money into it like me, just sell it or trade it in for a 4x4
