Default Lift and bigger wheels/tires - need tuner?

Two of my coworkers are telling me that when I have my truck lifted and new wheels put on i should have a tuner otherwise the performance will suffer. Is this true? I haven't seen anything like that mentioned on here. I am planning on getting a 6" suspension lift as soon as my wheels arrive. My wheels are 20x9 and tires are 35's.

do you need it or have to have the tuner? NO would it make it better? YES, the reason he is telling you is because the new wheels and tires are going to weigh a lot more than your stock setup so therefore it will make your performance suffer. But like I say you don't have to do a tuner it will just make it better.

Have to factor the speedometer also. You do not have to get that fixed, but things will be off. mileage, speed etc.

Adding 35's will rob you of some HP for sure... get a tuner

My new truck is still stock but on my old truck the first thing after bigger tires was a tuner. I thought it was worth it just to get the milage, speedo, etc right, by themselves. The performance boost is a nice bonus, but personally I didn't notice a difference in the ol' "butt dyno".

15051 Edge... you can find them used for $200-$250 just ensure it was returned to stock level 0

I would say most people add a tuner after lifting. Reason to do so are 1) the lift/tires are going to rob you of power and you will get some back with a tuner. 2) more importantly, a tuner will adjust your speedo/shift points ect which will drastically affect drivability.
I just factored the price of tuner into the price of lifting.
Personal experience: my tuck runs about 7 MPH off at 70MPH, probably not a good way to run for an extended period. Also, performance is night and say with the tune on vs without. I can't stand driving my truck without the tune. BTW, I have 35's and a 6 inch lift.
Get a tuner, you'll be happy you did.

Yes, yes they do!
They may be a tad deep for my 35's, but I was giving myself some wiggle room for 37's down the road if I want.
But for the OP's purpose on wither or not to get a tuner, I would say yes.
