I bought my 2004 2WD used from ford with a leveling kit already on it still under manufactuers warranty. "Certified used" you think they would have picked up that the previous owner had put the leveling kit on it. I don't think it would void it but that's my opinion.

first of all, legally, they canot void your warranty. secondly if somehting goes wrong and you need warranty work it has to be proven that what you did, mod, was the thing that caused the problem.
for example if your engine motor mount breaks, hey cant just say your warranty is voided due to you leveling your truck.. it has to be proven that the level kit broke the mount. this statement is just for example sake.
You have brought up a good question though, as i am wondering if by lowering the back end of the truck if that is going to throw the front end out of alingment or put a different angle on the ball joints. sounds crazy but if you dont know you just dont know.

I had one installed by my dealer after I bought my truck and it was a supposed 2.5'' (more like a 3'') and the Mgr. said there was no warranty issues.

that is what i was thinking but just not sure. I still cant make up my mind if i want to raise the front or lower the rear. I am leaning towards lowering the rear just because id like to get rid of some of the space in the fender well.
I guess one thing i am not sure of is what are the shims for in the shackle kit?

Have never messed with rear ends before, i do understand what they (shims) are for now but can an average person prob figure this out? Is it just going by looks of the pinion angle or is there measurements invovled?
appreciate the info.
