Those would work.. not sure if you need 3" though.. like I said you need to measure first. there are all kinds of options for you. They sell new coil and strut built together called coilovers.. like Martin mentioned.. don't know your budget. a simple leveling kit will work for want you want to achieve. You will need to pay for install and Alignment unless you and the boy are going to tackle the install. Maybe Martin can come help you install it !

i have actually installed a leveling kit twice. So I think we can handle that. But i have never done it on an older truck before. I am just assuming these are the original struts and coils. Thats why I was wondering if something like this would be better than just adding the leveling kit to the struts he already has...

That's really cheap for struts though... I'm not sure they'd be any good, or that they'd last long
