I am planning a Colorado trip next summer and was going to rent a Wrangler but you got me thinking maybe just take my truck? I am all stock but probably will get new tires before I go next summer. What do you recommend? No lift or level stock height. Thanks Rod
Sorry I just saw this post. Colorado is amazing. A Jeep will be much more nimble on the more difficult trails...but my truck handled them just fine. However...I'm sure the stock height would limit you to maybe the 1 and 2 rated trails. Mine is lifted 6" with 35" Toyo MT's. The 3 and 4 rated trails I would suggest a jeep or lifted suspension. You'll need the ground clearance with the bigger terrain.

I had a 2.5" level for about 6 months before I decided to go up to a 6" Fabtech lift. Definitely need to upgrade my shocks before next time.

Did some work out in Fort Collins, Colorado in September. Stumbled upon a fun trail up in Roosevelt National Forest. It starts a few miles back from the Stove Prairie Ranch/School about 18 miles NW of Fort Collins. Old Flowers Road.

TECHFORCE ya my 07 leved on 33's went down right where your truck picture is lol,

burt.trans as for 4 wheeling in Colorado i've made 4 trips up there and i HIGHLY recommend at least a level and 33's.......stock height fx4 or 4x4 wont cut it and you may be missing an airdam real quick up there.....

Climbing up some slickrock in Muley Twist Canyon:

Off road camp near Lake Powell (night of those deadly thunderstorms 9/14):

At the "Tin Cup" along Engineer Pass, CO (the drop is only about 1500ft of air ):

We did Imogene Pass (Telluride to Ouray) 9/18, then on 9/19 we did Corkscrew Gulch, Hurricane Pass, California Pass and Engineer Pass (Silverton to Lake City, CO).

This is higher up on Engineer Pass:

I'm so jealous! Lol those passes are on the bucket list for next spring, any areas of difficulty? Are you leveled and what size tire are you running?
