Default larger rear off road tire pair?!?!

Hey guys, I have a pretty weird question that most likely has never been asked before. I'll start out by explaining my situation. I have a 2wd f150 with the 5.0 and a LSD. I like to go do light off roading and would like to enhance my off road ability without spending much. I was thinking that I could pick up 2 off road wheels and tires, just for the rear. I can change my tires very fast, so this is not a big deal. I want to keep my mpg and gearing normal on the road as well. Also I was wondering if it would hurt if the rear pair of tires were like 1-3 inches greater in diameter than the front wheels during off road use. Thanks for your opinions!

U'll be good with bigger tires in the rear , as long as your not 4wd or in 4wd you'll be ok . Gonna sit high in the rear tho !

It'd be better than radials, but your front tires would "clog" with dirt and it would be like steering with slicks.

Ive heard it was always best to have them on the front as well on a 2wd. It helps alot with steering traction as well as lateral traction (going paralell with a slope) it also helps you not to get stuck bc they wont clog up as easy as street tires. The street tires will tend to plow and not roll, wich will put more of a bind on your rear mudgrips wich will make them spin/dig causing you to get stuck. But even if all you can get is grips on the rear, it will be alot better than street tires

It will drop your front end reducing clearance, completely killing the idea of going to bigger tires. craigslist 4 rims and tires.

I don't do any off roaming in any mud or extreme hills. I don't think that my front tires would have such a hard time steering. Also, by putting on larger tires, I wouldnt decrease my front clearance, just make the truck lean forward a bit more

Keep the front tires tall and skinny... Don't have to be mud grips... Your front tires are just going to ball up. So you mise well keep it tall and skinny to cut when you turn.

I've ran 2 wheel drive trucks forever. Always off roaded and mudded.
