no doubt about it that they can be sick off road. But the majority of people who buy them, dont know what i dirt road or a rock looks like

I went from a jeep jk with 35s to F150... I was a truck guy for years and then I got my jeep and I loved it.. it would go anywhere and was AWESOME in the snow.. plus with the top and doors off.. you just couldn't ask for anything better.. but I only got 10mpgs and when I towed it was worse.. I sold it and got more then I paid even with the added stuff.. I now own 2 door f150 4x4 and it is more practical for me as I hunt, fish, camp.. here is my jeep and my truck

Yep.. that bad.. when I put the factory tires and wheels back on I would get about 15.. your tj had the 4.0 mine had the 3.8.. they should have never taken the 4.0 out of the jeep..

not even, i only have the 2.5 lol. Guess that helps a bit with gas. Ya they never should have changed the 4.0. I know a few guys who own both a JK and a TJ or YJ and their JK has had engine issues. Sucks because now people who dont know much about jeeps just think they have bad motors and dont kow how long the others have been around. Bad decision jeep, bad decision

Wow.. 2.5 thats awesome. . And agreed. . Jeep has made a few bad decisions over the years.. dont get me wrong I loved my jeep and it did everything I needed it to.. I have to say my f150 is only getting 10.6 mpg in town with the 5.0 but it is just more practical for me..

Ya my truck with the 4.6 gets about 12-13. It is more practical for sure. After driving my not so practical jeep everyday everywhere for 4 years i didn't even notice how impractical it was until I bought the truck. But how practical is the truck on 37s? Lol. I never cared about mpg. I won't let gas be my factor on my vehicle. But the truck is definitely warmer and comfortable. Not quite as fun tho!

I'm in the "buy both" camp if in a position to do so - but in my case I like my early Bronco - gotta keep it Ford baby! If you do any serious offroading you have to tow because if you do it long enough or serious enough, you will break something...

I'd pick an older pick up, preferably straight axle, over a jeep any day.
If you pick up a 78/79 f150 with the straight axle, or 80-96 with ttb, you're in good shape for off road, and as a driver.
