So I drive about 600 miles a week for work. But I also want to get into the 4x4 lifestyle. I figure I need something that's durable to withstand all of that abuse but also be something I won't regret later.
I'm not a fan of climbing, more like mudding and rough terrain. And mostly camping.
What do you all think? By the way, I plan on keeping this next automobile as long as possible.

Make a list of the pros and cons and a list of what you want out of your vehicle. Gas mileage, reliability, comfort, power, maintenance.

Don't buy the first one you see. Know what you want and wait for a good deal they are out there. Be very meticulous and spend your money wisely.

I traded a wrangler for the 150. I've seen some that went 150 to jeep.
I loved my jeep but wanted something different. Now I love the 150. The jeep was more fun to drive with the top off. The 150 with back window and sun roof are ok...but not the same
150 has better ride..get's better mpg ...has more room and can tow and haul more.
As mentioned above..take time and make sure what's right for you...
I didn't look at link for jeep but 2012 and up gets better mpg. .2012 had a lot of bad motors ..was corrected in 13...do research on any model and year you buy
Edit. Just looked at links. Both have over 100K miles. With your 600 a week..might wanna find something with less miles

Since you want something more orientated towards mudding, trailing, and camping, I would go with an F150. They are just as capable on those type of terrain futures. The Wrangler would be more orientated towards climbing from a stock perspective considering its shorter wheelbase. Either one could be built to be a climber but that is preference. Given what offroading you want to do, the F150 can't be beat; better tow and haul capacities, more interior and cargo room, reliable, etc.. If you want a Wrangler, look for the '06 Rubicon Unlimited with the 6spd manual and 4.0l.

A Wrangler will hold up far, far better then an f150 in the woods. Where my f150 needed front end parts left and right, my TJ was very solid and never needed anything. My TJ stock would go places where my lifted f150 would not and was a blast to drive. It was fun to take the top off but I would never use one as a daily driver.

First of all, they are small as hell. There's no room and the interiors are very basic. That never really bothered me but it's something to think about if you're going to have passengers. Second is the noise. They're noisy, they all leak to some degree and come winter they're so hard to keep heat in you might as well put them away.

They're a niche vehicle. If you want to "abuse" something, your f150 won't hold up like a Wrangler though so it sounds like you might be better off either toughing it out and buying a wrangler or buying a beefier truck. A straight axle f250 will give you the best of both worlds, if you get a gasser it's not that much more to buy and no more maintenance AND you won't be chewing up front end parts ect left and right.

Plus an f250 will take bigger tires no problem, 35's are a joke and it will be very easy to take it offroad. Don't listen to the above poster, a wrangler is awesome in mud because they're so light. Where my f150 got stuck, the wrangler crawled by, often in two wheel drive. They're all gutless as hell until the new pentastar powered ones though..

Jeeps are light and my truck had an open rear. My jeep had mud terrains, my f150 had all terrains.

Jeeps will go further then a regular old truck for sure. I've gone lots of places in 2 that my buddies had trouble with in 4 wheel drive.

I will give you the weight but you can't base your findings on m/t's vs. a/t's (especially for more heavy wheeling) and the fact your truck had an open differential. You can change your tires and they have 150's with limited slips and lockers. You getting places in 2wd that others had trouble in 4wd is almost a mute point; the driver's abilities are a large factor when doing any skilled driving, not to mention what the vehicles are outfitted with despite using 4wd or not.

I would say f150 but im sure if you where on a Jeep Forum they would tell you Jeep. I do feel that my F150 can out perform most jeeps probably about %75 of the time off road and on. The only place I can think of a jeep out performing me is on narrow trails and rock crawling. But I would like to think I have them on comfort, towing, having a bed, on road manners, and off road high speed.

Dont get me wrong I love jeeps and If I didnt need to tow my toys and wanted a convertible but not own a car a jeep would be great. I love my truck more then any Jeep though (but I have a lot into my truck).

I just traded my 2010 Wrangler for the F150. I offroaded many many times with the Jeep. Not just dirt roads but tough offroading. The Jeep couldn't get stuck unless you were really trying. Creep through the narrowest of trails. It ate brakes like a snake on a mouse, got lousy gas mileage with the 37's, had no power on anything other than a dirt road, Towed like crap, and was small as hell. Even a cooler and overnight bag had trouble fitting. With the top off, it was the most fun vehicle I ever had.
Four years later, my offroading and replacing injured pieces and parts are over. I now enjoy the comfort, the 20mpg on the highway, the bed, the awesome snowmobile/boat/jetski trailer towing, and the ability to carry on a conversation with the person next to you. I wouldn't even think of putting the F150 through what I put the Wrangler through. Its all about priorities...
Oh yea... They gave me almost what I paid for it 4 years before :-)
