How often do you use your 4x4?
So I was wondering, aside from when you are in wet or muddy conditions, how often do you 4x4 guys have to switch into 4wd when off roading?
I ask because I have a 2wd 97 f150 and I love to go offroading, but as of right now I have been going in my buddy's lifted cherokee because I am nervous about taking my 2wd truck out there.

I have a lot of friends that go off roading in 2 wheel drive trucks. I always leave mine in 2 wheel unless super muddy or already stuck. Half of the fun is getting stuck and then trying to find creative ways to get out.

when im looking for new mud and dont wanna get my truck covered in mud i put it in 4x4 so i can creep. many times its the cleaning that keeps me from getting it dirty. 15 minutes of play results in 2 hours of hitting the truck with a pressure washer and soap, lol.
when im looking to have some fun, 2wd is the way to go unless i know the hole is a mean one.
but i do use my 4x4 a lot. and i have used it a couple times where i really needed it, not for when i was just playing in the dirt.

A wise man once told me to take the truck off pavement and work the 4x4 every month or so to spin the lube and keep things kosher. Good advice, even if it just gets you off pavement once a month.

December 2009 TOTM!
I try to use it a few times a month. I try to go offroading every weekend so that's why.
Depends on what I'm doing. If I'm haulin' *** on dirt roads I'll put it in 4wd to grip better on corners. If I'm muddin' I'll keep it in 2wd until I want to hit a real deep hole that I might not make it in 2wd.
Plus using 4wd in mud, covers your truck better! HAHA.

i use 4wd evrytime we go to our local spot, mainly due to a rutted out, off camber, hill climb right at the entrance, this keeps me from spinning and sliding into the hill side, and like said before usally in 4wd to creep through the mud, also i used to have street tires so not much traction
