Firstly I've done a bit of searching and I can't find a thread pertaining to what I'm looking for. Secondly I'm technically not using these for Offroad but I figured this would be the best spot to post this as it's not truck specific.

I've got an 06 Screw with a grille gaurd that I currently have a 20" LED spot/flood combo light bar mounted to and it works exceptionally well offroad for me as around my area it's extremely hilly and tightly wooded. However when I get out on the highway which I have to often the light bar leaves much to be desired beyond 250 ft or so.

I'm currently making brackets to relocate the light bar below the cross brace of the guard and I would like to mount two spotlights where the light bar is currently sitting. I'm planning on purchasing two Rallye 4000's but I cant decide between the Pencil beams or the Euro beams. Euro's have decent distance out to 750' or so with a 75' spread at that distance. The Pencils are good for 1500' but only with a 30' spread. All this info BTW I'm pulling from the Hella website spec sheets.

Really for me the further the better as our highways consist of a lot of straight streaches with slow sloping. I'm just worried the Pencil beam wont light up the shoulders enough at a distance as the main thing I'm looking for to avoid is moose and deer. Closer range isn't a concern due to the light bar.

I'm mainly looking for people that have owned either or both and can attest to the beam patterns and brightness. Forgot to mention they'll be halogens due the constant on/off cycling nature of highway traffic and LED's are out due to cost. Would only like to sink 300$ or less into the pair.

No one with any input? Thinking about possibly three daylighter's in spot configuration instead. Just looking for maximum distance. Three 6" lights will fit or two larger ones. Probably go with chrome or stainless.

Had a couple chrome cheapies from princess auto on before, 60$ for the pair with upgraded 130w bulbs but light pattern was terrible. Definitely like the chrome fixtures with the chrome front end though.

Got the mounts fab'd and painted and bar has been relocated, just need the spots now.

Ok, I just figured out how to upload pics with this new.... thing. I have an '11 Lariat. I did the '13 HID headlight upgrade. So, the first pic is of just my high beams. I had a set of PIAA RS600 HID driving lights mounted on my brushguard. They were fantastic, but I hated the warm up time. So I decided to try a set of the PIAA LP570 LED driving lights. Both the HID's and the LED's are a 20 degree driving beam. I took some shots before I put the LED's on so I could do a comparison. The new LED driving lights are very nice. They don't have the range or spread of the HID driving lights, but are still impressive. This should give you some idea of what a driving lights beam pattern is like. First pic is trucks High beam before I fixed the passenger side. The next two are of the LED driving lights. The last is of the HID driving lights.

Those look like exactly what I'm looking for! Curiosity led me to check the pricing and I can't see it happening on those particular lights, I realize they are LED though. Wish I had the cash to drop on them but by the time I'd get em to canada and pay 13% duty it'd be well over my budget. Thanks for the pics though, I know now about 20 degrees is the beam angle I'm looking for.

I upgraded my headlights to LED in the factory bezel and that helped significantly. They're the reflector facing type bulbs with the drivers. I put them in my fogs also, seems like there's more focused light out of them actually compared to the halogen bulbs and they're without the glare of HID's in non projector bezels. Along with cutting down the wattage to 24w~ a piece. If I find the time I'll write up a review to go with the pics of the install for the products forum.

That's a gorgeous truck, extremely clean! I had HID headlights in my 02 King Ranch and wound up taking them out. Original owner had 6000k bulbs in it and they were terrible in snow and fog, they glared bright white almost blue. Put 4300k bulbs in and I loved them in the summer but in the winter during -10f~ or colder weather I had a hard time getting them to strike and warm up and with under 10 hours of light a day and working 12 hour days I got tired of dealing with them and pulled the bulbs and stuck in halogens. That's why I wound up with LED's in the headlights of this truck. Man I went well off topic..
Anyway that experience is why I'm staying away from the HID spotlights this time and the LED's are just out of my price range (looking at purchasing a 50" bar for roof and
the old girl needs paint on the two tone portion, also getting two new manifolds installed, can't stand the ticking) Hoping I can get at least close to the same output from halogens as you did with the HID's and LED's.

It's good technique indeed. Use of beams are always good i think you need to try cross beams for this purpose which may more helpful and positively working.
We can use these in different ways.
