I am getting a new exhaust system for my 5.0. I want to remove the cats but since my 5.0 is EFI, it has catalytic moniters behind the cats. Can I remove the cats and not throw a code? Can I fool the computer to make it seem like the cats are still there?

If your 5.0. is not a 96 you wont have O2 sensors behind your cats. My 95 bronco doesn't. I gutted my front cat and removed the rear one and never had a code because the O2 sensor is in the Y-pipe and thus doesn't know the difference.

If it is a 96 or newer just go to your local auto parts store and ask for a spark plug non-fouler (normally in the help section at autozone). Screw your O2 sensor in to the non-fouler and screw that into your exhaust...

This will work with the rear O2 sensor seeing that it only monitors the exhaust gases and does not control your air/fuel ratio.
