Diff Locker?
How exactly do they work? I have heard that they aren't good to use on the road,so is there a way to disengage them when driving on road and engage them when off roading?
Thanks

Depends on which locker you get and how much $$$ you want to spend. For big bucks you can get an Ox locker which is cable activated or an ARB locker that is air operated or an Elocker or Eaton electric locker that are operated by a switch. All of these are considered selectible lockers and can be fully disengaged on the street. For less $$$$ you can get a Detroit locker that is not selectible and will lock and unlock at will on its own on the road. Nonselectible lockers can be quirky on the road because they can tend to lock and unlock when cornering, especially in slick conditions and high torque conditions. They can also be a little noisy (click, click, bang, click, bang) when cornering as they lock and unlock. Non selectible lockers are very basically a ratcheting system that ratchets (click, click, click) when they dont sense any torque. When you apply torque they lock up. Their normal condition while driving straight down the road is locked because you have torque applied to both wheels. When you turn the outside wheel is actually travelling faster than the drivetrain so there isnt any torque applied, it will unlock that wheel. If you are turning and lose traction on the inside wheel, it will speed up and match the speed of the outside wheel, then the locker will lock and tend to push the vehicle straight ahead. It can get squirrelly in slick conditions if you arent familiar with it. I woulnt be too concerned about the handling issues of non selectible lockers if I lived in FL and didnt have snow or ice to deal with.

If I ever went with a locker, I would get a selectable one. I hate listening to a Detroit on pavement cornering.
