Default Crazy Lifted Story

Im wondering if anybody can help me out with this or tell me how this is even possible?

About 6 Months ago i read an article about a guy who owned a 2002 chevy silverado he ended up doing some kind of crazy 41'' lift with 54'' Michelin truck tires the thing is he put these things on the stock 1/2 ton rear axle. And to make it even crazier he had a kit to keep the ifs with the stock differential in the front. He however had major upgraded cv axles and had a custom driveshaft made to work with the autotrac transfer case.

This is not a fake story there was a whole 4x4 magazine that did the story on this guy and his truck im just curious how the hell the stock axle isnt sweating its *** off trying to move this thing oh and he has not broke a cv axle or anything in the front diff according to when the article was written.

The only thing i remember clearly is he stated that the cost of keeping the ifs on the front with the 4x4 was not worth it and he would be going straight axle soon. I think its just crazy 54'' tires 41'' lift on stock rear axle and front diff with cvs.

I'd believe it holding up to mall crawling if he did some serious work to the axle. However I doubt he's ever taken the thing out in the mud and put it under stress. Lifting it that much is just stupid. Like you said, 2.5 ton rockwells would've been thousands cheaper and not stupid :p

Yeah keep in mind ttbs are typically stronger than a-arm styles which those Chevies were. I couldn't see that truck making it in the mud at all without breaking stuff.

I'm doing the math in my head and 41" lift with the front axle not being a solid front would be some really angle, I can't see it working at all , let alone putting power to it...
