Default Bilstein Coilovers

I ordered my rear 5100 shocks from Bilstein and would like to find something for the front. Looking to mostly level the truck and be able to put a slightly bigger tire on. Anyone have any experience or be able to give some advantages/disadvantages to the Bilstein coilovers.

Truck is a 2013 FX4 Eco with stock suspension.

Are u looking at actual coil overs like off of f150lifts or just the 5100 shock to raise the front? People love the 5100, but then there are naysayers that say its to soft or too firm depending on which height perch u pick. Im waiting on my rancho quicklifts to arrive. I rather b the one to decide if itll ride like a 70's caddy softness or firmer.

Appreciate the feedback. I will probably cancel my order then since they are back ordered. I have no experience with Bilstein so I definitely can't claim they are the only way I will go. Have considered going other routes just don't know what all is tested in the 2013 lineup.

I was looking at the actual coilover not the shock alone.

This, find the thread over in the 09-14 forum. If you're looking at doing any amount of real offroading its sounding like the Bilsteins are not the way to go.

For what you want to do you will be fine with 5100's.

I've had them on my truck for over a year now and they are driving on a DD and have some light offroading on them with no problems.

The issues these guys are talking about is because guys push them past their design limits and they fail like anything pushed past their limits. There are not HUGE amount of failures as these guys make it seem, there are hundreds of thousands of these shocks on trucks and there are a small amount of failures.

It really comes down to what you want to do, for light offroading and looks, go with Bilsteins or F150lifts.com coil overs.

If you want them for offroading performance then drop the big money and go with Icon, King, Fox, ect.

I'm happy with my Bilsteins and will be even happier when my F150lifts.com coil overs get here!

How much are you looking to spend? Fox, Icon or King have great shocks for lifting and making the ride so much better than stock. I have Fox 2.5 resi shocks up front and raptor take offs in the rear, it lets you lift the front the right way and put a block or AAL in the rear.

Less than $2,000. I drive the truck back and forth to work and light off-road use.

For work, I can be on the interstate or back roads of North Dakota. Growing demand for me to be out in the oil patch so that is where I might find myself seeing the most off-road use.

For $2000 you have a bunch of options, it's just a matter of how much you really want to spend. I wouldn't go with remote resi shocks, that would just be throwing money away.

Icon and fox make some nice upgrades but look at the F150lifts.com coil over Bilsteins. They are great for what it sounds like your going to do unless you're going to blast 100mph over the oil fields! Lol

If you haul *** like me on the back roads then you would want a good set of shocks.
You could do a kit like this minus the upper control arms that are $700 to stay in the 2,000 budget and lift the front end the proper way.
