Hey everyone i have and 04 f150 running 8" lift with some 37" toyos, currently has 373 gearing pretty sure thats stock and was wondering if adding 456 gears would help out with mpg at all

The 4.88s would be better in the freeway. The reason I'm saying 5.13s is I'm assuming since this is the Offroad section that you Offroad your truck and the 5.13s will be better for that.

Yeah, mines my DD too but it loves the mud. I'm looking for new tires right now since my 35s look so tiny and had to make the same decision you are.
That I'm not too sure on. I'm sure there are others that could do the math for you. Most of my buddies are running 5.13s in their trucks with very similar set ups as you.

cool looks like my new dilema will be 4.88 or 5.13's
guess the research continues
id appreciate if you could ask your friends what kind of rpm range their in and what mpg they get if you ever get a chance

Truck Syndrome
seems a bit extreeme....
Depends what you are trying to get out of it, in my case I am going to a 37" tire and putting 4.56's in and that will be the closest to the 3.73's with a stock tire (stock set up). Mine is a daily driver for me and is taken off road on the weekends, the 4.56's will have a little more torque with the 37" tire than the stock set up.
Best way to check is use this awesome RPM calculator on Randys Ring and Pinion...

37" tire with 4.56's is only a few RPM's different than stock. What I did was make a chart comparing stock gearing and tire size versus 37" tire and 4.56 at 30MPH, 45MPH, 50MPH and 65MPH, then compare!

The 4.88s would be similar to 4.10s on a stock truck which would be great for off road. This is all going to come down to how much off road use your truck is going to see. I've always been one who would rather over do something then under do it.
