I'm Actually not surprised by that at all. There arent many places i have found that wilk either return a phone call or know what other plants or stores are doing. I have a buddy at my station that swears by BFG but hes a little on the cocky opinionated side. I would definitely appreciate any info you get from your neighbor tho. All opinions help at this point
I have had 3 sets of BFG's on various trucks, 2 AT's and 1 set of the MT's. They AT's were very good to me and I got good mileage out of them. My only 2 complaints would be: they clog easily in thick clay/mud and arent the best self cleaning tread for serious mud riding. To maximize the treadlife you REALLY need to rotate them every 5k. I like their appearance and sidewall beef, makes the truck look mean.

The Yokohomas appears to have a decent tread pattern for an AT. Looks like it would lend itself to better cleaning than the BFG's.

I have a 8 month old and a 2 1/2 year old, I feel your pain man, I feel your pain....We are taking a trip to the Georgia coast in a month and half. I think im going to start the high BP meds now.

+1 on the BFGs. I had a set of a/ts on my Ranger and they did great. They lasted 70k with frequent rotation and handled snow/ice/slush like a champ. I rode on the beach at Salvo in OBX and never had any issues. The Ranger was much lighter than my SCrew tho. Im in the market for some new tires too and just like everyone else I dont have a money tree. Im looking at the Nitto terra grapplers, General grabber a/t, and Goodyear Wrangler ATS(Walmart only). Havent decided yet but im leaning toward the nittos. Catch any Stripers up that way? Fishing down here sucks right now.

hey i had the nitto dune grapplers and they worked well on sand and snow but mud was a whole nother story but if your just taking your truck to the beach they would be some good tires for you just make to rotate and they will last you a good couple of yrs my last for around 2 yrs and i never even rotated them and then i noticed mine started to wear on the inside really fast but i have a lift on my truck and the ppl that did my last alignment effed up the front end but it has since been fixed but hey lesson learned but thats my $.02

I have had BFG AT's on two vehicles, both on the sand. Never had any probs and never aired down either. however i've been selling tires for 15 yrs and sold the tire to a customer who surf fished regulary and he stated that the tires got him stuck in the soft sand in the carolinas. Not sure if that was"user error" or the fault of the tire. I can tell you the BFG is the most practical AT on the market. With good tire maintence you will get 50k out of them and they will be quiet the entire time. Youll notice the others will get choppy and noisy after a year or so. Hope this helps.

Thanks 1st, and everyone else. Best part of this forum is having a place to grab peoples advice. And mech4 i havent got to go fishing for anything but small mouths in the small lake at my familys cabin since my wife was put on bed rest 4 minths into her pregnancy. My daughter is 9 months now so we figure as lig as shes has some shade and some toys, mommy and daddy can finally take her surf casting with our friends. The past few tears we have been KILLING em, but regulations get more ridiculous every year in NY and they have effectively regulates regular people out of black fish, fluke and cod. How has fishing been down there aside from striper not being so great?

All the rain up north is making the gulf coast fishing no good. Water is too brackish. Last year I was knocking down the Redfish and speckled trout until the river flooded. I hear ya on the regs, its gettin kinda outta hand ive had to throw back some trout I would eat because they went from 16" to 20". I seem to find all the 18s. Hope your wife gets better.

I agree with him 110% bfg all terrain is the best sand tire to me next to a paddle tire and u still get good milage off of them I ran them all the time on my old ranger when I would go to Pismo dunes out here in California!!!! Now I run bfg projects in my f150 but that's a desert tire

For sand you want to be able to float as much as possible. A full-on, wide mud tire will be the best, since it is most like a paddle tire. However, they won't be that great in snow.

For snow you want to bite in, actually make contact with the pavement. You'll notice that snow tires are typically narrow with deep grooves.

If you are going to have one set for both the beach and winter, I'd say something like a Nitto Trail Grappler would be the best compromise.

You can't really compare a Ranger's traction capability to the F-150's. I could go almost anywhere in my Ranger with a set of A/Ts. Not so much in my F-150. The weight of the F-150 requires a more agressive (or wider) tire to compete with the Ranger, especially in soft sand.

Case-in-point: I've seen a 4wd F-350 with narrow higway tires get stuck in 4" of sand. He was PISSED! I told him he needs wider tires due to the weight of his truck. Now in 4", A/Ts would have most likely been enough, but on a beach....
