I've gone through several Motorcraft batteries (brand new), I've had 2 Optima red tops in the Cobra (current battery lives on a battery tender since I rarely drive the car)
And on my Explorer I ended up with an Autozone (duralast) yellow top battery. This is the best battery I have ever owned hands down. Not sure who makes it but it is damn good!

FYI A battery is intended to start the engine and provide current when the alternator cannot produce enough. If you run accessories that often over tax the alternator then you should look at increasing the output of the alternator. Have a glance at this link. http://www.pacificpowerbatteries.com...Q/carfaq7.html

I have a Red Top in my wifes Honda Pilot & it's been great.

My last truck (95' F-250) had the Yellow Top. That truck had a winch & hookups for running the lift on a dump trailer. The yellow worked well.
I'll probably put a Yellow in my truck this fall/winter, before I need to.

The date code on my Optima yellow top says April 02... Still in my truck. My alternator went out in Barstow Ca. and I made it all the way to Burbank which is about 150 miles away driving in 110 degree heat. Cranked slow but started the truck even after all that driving with no alternator at all.
