anybody off road with a 2wd?
#81
I had a 2005 2wd f150 and it was tough as nails. I would run it through the same holes as the 4wds and make it through as good if not better as some of them. 2wd does have its limits, however a good set of tires and a good driver can take them far. My old truck had seen plenty of dirt miles and I wish I could've kept it when getting the new one.

2WD simply isn't designed for off-road travel. With that said, 4WD with open/open is essentially 2WD... Only difference is you have the weight of the motor etc over one drive wheel. 4WD open/open is still superior to 2WD locker, but not by much.
With that said, 2WD open? Useless beyond useless.
Can't beat 4WD with at LEAST one locker.

Why does anyone buy a two wheel drive though?
Don't understand it at all. You will never find one in my yard. It doesn't make sense because they're hardly any cheaper. The only way I would buy a two wheel drive is if .. never mind, I would never buy one.

And that's your opinion. Actually they are a lot cheaper...my 12 XLT 2wd is about $4k cheaper than a 12 XLT 4x4

I agree, they are a lot cheaper and if you don't need 4wd then why not buy a two wheel drive? Of course 4x4 is going to be better but that's not what all people are going to need. That's why people buy 2wds

I've never needed 4x4, yes I have wished I had it but I've never been able to justify the need for 4x4. Therefore I bought a 2wd and don't mind taking it off road, I also have no problem calling friend to come get me when I'm stuck...not that I intentionally get it stuck.
