I really like the Yokohama Geolandar AT-S my dad put some on his 04 GC and they are great, they have almost no wear, have fantastic grip on pavement, and off road, particularly in mud and snow. They are the successor to the Super Digger V2 which was an amazing M/T. They are fantastic.

I just bought a set of Firestone Destination M/T in a 285/70/17 on my '01 F-150 SuperCrew 4x4 with stock suspension. There replace the BFG All Terrain T/A KO that were on the truck when I bought it. The new tires are more aggressive for off road, but really aren't very noisey on pavement. They've been great in the muck but seem less responsive on pavement than the worn-out BFGs were...wich may be due to the Firestone's really tall tread blocks that might be a bit wiggly on pavement. No doubt they'll feel stiffer as the tires wear down and the tread blocks get shorter - producing less tread block flex.
Anyway, great tires for the sloppy stuff and quite acceptable on the road.

as far as AT's go, i had really good luck with the BFG AT's. they wore awsome, had great wet weather and snow traction as well as respectable off road traction but in mud they left a bit to be desired. i now have the BFG KM2's and they have awsome road manners for a mud tire and kick ass off road and in the mud. if you experience alot of mud usually when off road, a good mud terrain may be worth while for you. there are mud tires, like the KM2 that get you the best of both worlds that will handle the thick stuff better than an AT tire and get you good mileage and good on road manners.

My dad had a blowout on his 1984 Bronco II with Firestones and almost rolled. Never will I or anyone in my family trust Firestones again...
