95 4.9 heavier flywheel
I'm asking this in the off-road forum because this group is most likely to understand the purpose of flywheel inertia.
It's a 5 speed. I would like to install a heavier clutch and flywheel with more inertia. Somewhere I read that a 7.5L clutch and flywheel would bolt right in. Somewhere else I read that it won't work because the 4.9 is internally balanced, whereas the V8 engines are externally balanced.
I've also read that an 11 inch clutch assembly will bolt up to the existing flywheel because both bolt patterns are already there.
OK, so much for rumors. What, short of considerable machining, can I do to get a tougher clutch and more flywheel inertia?
Thanks;
OC
