Default $60.00 body lift

ok so i found (2" BIG BLOCK) body lift blocks for $3.99 each. now i would need about 16 of them so that will cost me $63.84 adding shiping. all i would need to get would be the bolts and maybe a stearing exteshon. i would like to know what other parts i would need. i have a 1999 f150 flareside 4x4 automatic with the manual 4x4 on the floor. please help confused on what i will need and how to do it

Get a 3" body lift kit, comes with everything you need, I think for those years they are about 130 bucks

i would rather avoid spending 130 or more 1.becuase i dont want/need 3" of body lift and 2. i dont like body lifts due to the fact that all its realy doing is raising the body not the hole truck.
i can get a hole 2" for under 100 bucks but i need more info on it

You can get the 2" for that like you're doing, but it won't include the brackets to lift the bumpers, or any steering extension you may or may not need. Once you factor in the brackets I'd imagine the prices are nearly a wash.

I'm not sure if you're aware of that or not, but a body lift does not lift the bumpers without the brackets

I don't know about the steering part, but to me having the bumpers down at stock height just looks... not right.

This is obviously an older truck, but same idea. 3 inch body lift, no bumper bracket (couldn't find one of the front)

I think you will find how much extra money you will spend by trying to piece together a lift of your own. The hardware alone will run you $20-30. The time you spend trying to make custom brackets will eat up hours of your time.

and

give you an idea of everything needed to do the lift.

Id recommend just spending some moldy money and going for a kit. With a kit there is always warranty and customer help.

Things to keep in mind you will need: Spacers, hardware, potentially gas fill extension, bumper brackets for front and back, steering extension, ground extension, fan shroud drop, potentially spare tire extension, ect. This is a lot of searching and customizing to try and piece together on your own.

I put a 3" on my ranger about 5 yrs ago and it was a PA kit that literally took 3 hours to install and had everything I needed in one box. This is one time id recommended not going cheap to save yourself lots of headaches.

the fuel lines are fine, you need a steering ext, and you gotta take out your man 4x4 lever and cut it and weld in a 3" extension. you need a relocator bracket for the shift cable where it connects to the tranny. you can make bumper brackets yourself. everything else is smaller stuff

Im going to say do your self a favor. I brought this topic up last night, seems like proformance accesories is the way to go BL wise. Your probably going to have more of an agravation and spend more time cussing at your truck than wrench time if you try and fab up mounts.
