6 inch lift with 35x12.50x20

I'm having a BDS 6" lift put on my Tuxedo Black '10 F-150 Lariat SCREW. Everyone likes their new aftermarket rims, which is great, but I really like the OEM Ford 20" rims this truck is already sitting on with their 6.13" backspace and 44mm offset. Stock tires were 32x10.8x20's. (275/55/20). And I wanted Toyo brand tires.
Just to check sizing, my tire guy did mount up a Toyo ATII 35x12.50x20 to my stock 8.5" rims and mount them on the truck, and they did fit, though the sidewall distance to the stock control arm was probably 1/8". And it didn't rub with the wheel hard over right/left. But that was just sitting in a shop on stock suspension, and, IMO, it was to close to actually take out and drive without rubbing as the suspension went through it's moves. Any rubbing is never a good idea. So with a lift kit, I was good to go with the AT II 's 35x12.50x20's. Or not.
But, (there is always a 'but' in the middle of a good plan) after calling Tech Support
at BDS about the specifics of this BDS lift, I was told that the control arm and other components of their lift kits are overbuilt and larger in size, and that once the 6" lift was installed, that the sidewall on that Toyo AT II 35x12.50x20 on OEM 8.5" rims would hit the top of the new, and bigger, control arm. That tire wouldn't fit. Crap.
But after more searching and phone calls, I found that Toyo just came out with an
AT II "LT295x65x20". None of the local tire dealerships I called didn't even know about this new size as it wasn't in their spec books. And, per Toyo, the perfect rim width for this size tire is 8.5".
This new tire is 35.1" inches tall and 11.8" wide. PERFECT. A taller tire in the brand
I wanted with a narrower footprint, an aggressive appearance and a 50,000 mile warranty. And unlike the AT II 35x12.50x20, which weighs 79 pounds, this new size
Toyo tire weighs 63 pounds, less unslung weight, which is always better.
I called the engineer back at BDS Lift, gave him all the specs, and he said "Perfect
Fit" on my OEM rims with their 6" lift. I got lucky with these tires in being able to buy them 'right now', as they are on a 6 week national backorder and the last I was told, there were only 2 other sets sitting in a warehouse in Florida that were available right now, nationwide.
So Friggin cool. I got the 6" BDS lift with a 35"+ inch tire height I wanted in the brand I was going after with an aggressive appearance tread design, and with a 50,000 mileage warranty. (Most MT style tires I looked at don't have any mileage warranty). And I avoided that excessive, IMO, width that I didn't want. This will all be put together next week. Can't friggin wait !!!
If you can't find exactly what you want, just keep digging, the right combination that will fit your truck is probably out there.

I too have a 6 inch ProComp lift kit in my 2012 FX6. I put 35x12.50x20 tire and rim package on mine. No rubbing excellent ride and quite the looker. I also put on bushwacker fender flares. Cops around here have a bit of an issue if your tires stick out.

I'll bet that's a good looking setup - amazing how much better these trucks look with a lift and some sweet tires on them. I also ripped off the stock running boards and installed a set of Amp Research electric running boards - I LOVE those things. We're always gettin people up with "where the hell did you get those". And with the boards tucked away under the frame, the truck has the appearance of standing taller. I've been crankin on Fords for years.
My 6" BDS lift arrived yesterday, the tires today and work begins this coming Monday morning. Then it's getting a hand wax and buff and we're
hitting the road. We're in South Central New Mexico, so no storms/rain and
crap like that - just sunshine and roads.

I have the AMP Research steps also, and I friggin love them. I get those same questions, and people just stare sometimes when I get out. The only problem I had was finding the correct wire to tap into for the drivers side back door (I still havent fixed it). There are multiple wires that fit the color to tap into, and I could not figure it out yet. Let us know how the lift is and good luck on your trip!

Thanks. Those Amp Boards are cool. I tore the stock chrome boards off my Lariat and gave them to a woman across the street for her F-150. They look good on her truck, my Amps look better on mine because you can't see them!! IMO it sure gives the truck a better side appearance.
We were heading over to Phoenix, but it was 119 degrees there. Think we'll let it cool down a little bit to it's normal 110.
If I was you, I'd find an Amp Research dealer in my area and swing by and ask them which wire you tap into for the back door - if they are any good, they should just show you. If no dealers are in your area, you might also pop the cover, spread the wires apart, take a color photo with your phone and send it to Amp and ask them. I'm sure they would tell you.

Add the 6" lift plus whatever the tires add. Stock tires measure around 32" so a 35" tire is a 3" difference. Since the tire is round, you only gain half the tire height of 3" which equates to 1.5". Add the 1.5" tire difference to the 6" lift difference which equals the body being lifted a total of 7.5" over stock.
