35x12.50x20 under a 6 Inch Lift on OEM 8.5" Rims
I am in the process of having a 6" BDS suspension lift done on my 2010 150 Lariat 2WD which is currently
running 275/20" stock tires on OEM 8.5" rims.
I've been to different tire dealerships today and have received different information. The tire I want with this 6 inch lift is the 35x12.50x20 which should fill the space on this lift and make this truck look the way it should have always looked. And I want them mounted on the OEM rims because I like the look of them, and I ran out of money doing the lift and tires. So the 8.5" OEM rims are staying.
"BDS Suspension" says I can mount up to a 37"x12.50x20 under this lift with a nine inch rim and "5" to 5.5" backspacing. The tire dealer, using some computation, says I have a 6" back space. I'm not sure how he figured that out but he says it will probably work. IMO, Ford has done better in making their wheel wells larger.
The tire dealership also said, that due to the differences in the design of lift kits, that the only way to know for sure is to bring the truck down after the lift is in and he'll slap that 35" tire on my OEM rims and mount it and see if/what it hits.
I've read different posts/opinions on this. Some have said that this size of 35" tire can not be mounted on an OEM 8.5" rim. But the tire dealership AND the tire manufacturer states that this tire can be mounted on rims from 8" - 11". So maybe the only issue is this back spacing, if in fact I do have a 6" backspacing? I'd like to know how he came to that number and what if anything I need to do to fix it so these tires will fit.
Has anyone mounted this 35" tire on the OEM 8.5" rim mounted under a 6 inch lift and made it work. Thanks ....

I put 35-12.50-20 nitto terra grappler tires on Dick Cepec dc2 rims after my rough country 6inch lift. I love the way it looks and rides. On sharp right hand turns I do get a very slight rub on the fender but not to much. The rims are 20x9.

That looks really nose high. What's the measurements from top center fenders to ground?
