4x4 vs 4x4 Off Road
Hello All:
I recently purchased an F150 5.0L 3.55 Locker, 4x4 Off Road. I have noticed many other F150 4x4's around town. A lot of them have the graphic 4x4 without the "Off Road" below it. Is this a different package from mine ?? If so, what is the difference ??

Yes, the 4x4 Off Road is different than just the normal 4x4. The 4x4 Off-Road indicates that the truck has the 4x4 Off-Road Package, which basically gives you the equipment of a FX4 truck. It includes 3.55 electronic locking axle, skid plates, off road tuned shocks, A/T tires, and hill descent control depending on what year the truck is. The normal 4x4 trucks won't have some of these features.

According to the window sticker, my '12 eco screw Lariat Off-Road Package had these two options:
- 3.73 Electronic lock RR Axle
- Skid Plate
The P275/55R20 OWL All-Terrain was a separate line item at "No Charge".
Dunno if I have the off road shocks or hill descent (it's not on the sticker anywhere).

The sticker on my 2011 Lariat 5.0 states the same as above under the Off Road option. I have the hill descent but it isn't listed under the Off Road tab.
I went with the off road package for the 3.73. Stock tires, shocks, and skid plates weren't up to snuff and have all been replaced.

I had a new 2001 f-150 with the OFF-ROAD Pkg.
I believe the Factory OFF-ROAD pkg's came with the 3:55?? and the 3:73, 9.5 in rear end.
Heavy Duty Radiator with Transmission Cooler and Class iv towing pkg.??
Also your wheels are different than a regular 4x4 & your grill is different than a regular 4x4..
I know in 2001 the 3:55 Wheels were different than the 3:73's. They were easy to tell apart.
The FX-4 has all the same features including the 3:73 9.5 rear end.
I've never seen a FX-4 with a 3:55. They all are 3:73's 7 9.5.
3:55 may be a special order.
I know my 2007 & 2012 FX-4 had the 3:73's
I'm not real certain about the Off Road with 3:55's??
I only know what I had in my possession.
I don't remember when Ford came out with the FX-2 or FX-4?
If I'm not correct please let me know. i don't want to miss inform anyone.
