Default 4x4 problem?

Hello, I put my truck in 4 low, and everything is fine. But when I put the truck in 4 high, it makes a terrible grinding noise, and the front end bounces around. Would this be the front differential or what could it be?
Thanks everyone!

Is it possible that you've got a different gear ratio in the front vs. rear axle? Or different tire size front to back? Or tires are worn more than 4/32" different from front to back? I've seen a truck go through three transfer cases just because his tires were new on the back and getting worn on the front. Proper tIre rotations are key on a 4x4.
Strange that you don't have the problem in 4 low though.

I vote transfer case, or faulty shift motor

1. front differential problems would be evident in 4 h or 4 L. The differential doesn't know the difference.

2. same with the hubs... if they work in 4 lo, they would in 4 hi too.

try to be more specific though. What do you mean "bouncing around"?
