Question 4x4 low range shift points

When in 4x4 low, in drive, my truck revs to 3500-4000 rpm before it shifts to the next gear.
This can't be right ?
Anyone with same problem ?

Mine dies the same thing. Its cause the gearing is so low. Four low is only for very low speed uses.

Default low

thanks,
i understand low range is for going real slow.
what i don't get is why it revs so high before shifting.
rear gear(3.73) should have nothing to do with how high the motor revs.
before it shifts to the next higher gear.
i need more explaining.

thanks again

Plus if I remember right from my ford training it changes the shift points in the transmission to keep it in low gears like first and second. It does that so like if your crawling thru rocks or whatever you don't really want it shifting up at like 2500 rpm so it keeps it in that gear for longer.

Default 4x4 low

thanks for the help.
i guess i'm ok.
just seems like overkill to me.
i would think it should work close to the same as it does when in high range, shifting at the current load or throttle setting.
then if you need it to rev higher, then move the trans to "m",
& then you can rev it to whatever.

thanks much

Yeah I'm not sure what the thinking was on it. Probably so no one blows up the gears in the transfer case from trying to go to fast

They probably changed the shift points so you can descend slowly without having to brake. You may be able to use the M mode on the shifter to control your shifting.
