well, here's my 2 cents...
if the truck is in that good of shape and you didn't pay much for it, you should be able to make some money selling it, and then put that cash towards a 4 wheel drive. although, like you said, a 4wd truck in the same condition will be worth more. However, the price difference will no doubt be less than the cost of converting your truck to 4wd, nevermind the headaches of trying to make everything work like stock.
If you're really in love with the truck and want to keep it, just do a custom setup. find yourself a dana 44 or 60 from the boneyard and do a solid axle swap up front. Put in whatever tranny and transfer case your heart desires. Call up advance adapters they make just about anything possible. screw the CEL, pull the bulb out of the dash and just have your codes read every month or 2. Depending on what parts u get used, and how much of the work you can do yourself, this route could be done for probably the same or a little more than trying to track down all the factory parts, and you'd have a bad-*** one of a kind rig that demands respect!!!

yeah i would just sell it and get a 4wd. a shop would charge soooooo much money to do that. plus you have to pay for the parts. you could get them from a wrecking yard but for something that major, i wouldnt trust all those parts. it would be much cheaper, easier, and safer to sell the 2wd and buy a 4wd
