What year truck?

Have you tried rocking the truck back and forth after trying to engage? Any other issues, a lift, big tires any info will help.

Put the truck in nuetral, rev the engine up a little bit and try to put it in. Or, do it while in gear while holding your foot on the brake and rev the engine up.

The engine might not be producing enough vacuum to lock in the hubs.

my 03 ext cab pos did the same thing yesterday

not sure whats wrong but after i got it unstuck with the backhoe took it down the road and after a 1/4 mi i stopped turned around and it was locked in, do they make an aftermarket replacement for the factory 4wd setup like the cables for dodges and jeeps?

Default 4x4 hi and low

2006 Ford150 lariat.
Recently I noticed a weird vibration when turning from a stop on 2wd. It seems to come from the right rear tire. kind of a small quick vibration. no really issues until i tried the 4x4 hi, the light came on. And then a big vibration when turning from the hault again. vibration was coming from the rear axle. it felt as if the parking brakes where on. Then I parked placed it on 2wd and drove back about 100 ft, still same problem when i placed the 4x4 hi. I put it on 4x4 low and the light did not turn on, but same problem as the 4x4 hi. Is my 4x4 rear axle shot?

Thanks.

I have a 03 SCrew FX4 and I have the same vibration turning from a stop in 2 wheel drive. It started right around the time I started using 4 High regularly. Any suggestions from anyone as to what is causing this?
