Default 4wd low kicks out

Hey! Got an 07 f150 6in lift 4.6L Automatic. My 4 high works great, but as soon as I put it in 4 low, push the gas pedal, she goes ab 10 feet then a very large and robust pop occurs and kicks out and you can hear the winding of the gears. Awful sound. Could it be my transmission or my transfer case? Any insight is much appreciated

Sounds like time for a transfer case overhaul.

Well...if your truck runs fine in 2WD and 4WD high...I would think it was the shift motor on the transfer case... not the truck tranny !
