Default 35x12.5r17 on a 2014 f150

Hey Guys,

So Ive done countless hours of research on the set up I want on my 14 f150 screw. For wheels, Ive decided on MT Classic 3, a 17x9 with a 0 offset. I want to put a 35/12.5r17 cooper stt mud tire on them. After talking with Alex @ f150lifts, I think I am sold on his kit. My only decision now is do I need to go for a full 3 inches with rear blocks, or will a 2.25-2.5
inch level out front work with this set up?

I know that I will have to trim some plastic valence either way, and that doesnt bother me. My question is at 2.5 inches, is there anything else that will need to be trimmed, that wouldnt with a full 3 inches up front? Is anyone running a setup similar to this? Do you have pictures?

I just hate to spend an extra 500ish dollars to gain a half inch of lift if it wont help me clear the tires any better. Thanks in advance for your help!

I ran some 315x70x17 BFG Ta/KO's on my '04 Lariat 4x4 that was leveled 2-1/2 inches. Had them mounted on 17x9 wheels with a 0 degree offset or 5 inches of backspacing. They rubbed slightly on the lower wheelwells when making full turns. I had to do some trimming on the lower wheelwell in the front in order for them to clear. You should have a little more room on the '14 but with trimming they should fit

PawPaw, did you have to cut any metal, or just plastic?

No metal...just the lower part of the front wheelwell liners. I later bought some 17x8 wheels with stock 5.5 inches of backspacing which tucked the tire and wheel assy. more inside the wheelwells and that gave me more clearance. The more the tire and wheel sticks out in the front the more chance to rub. This is with 35's with a leveling kit.

i also was reading that with a 4" lift that 17" wheels wont clear something and that you have to go with 18s?

i love the 17s on 35s look the best, you will have to trim a bit OP, but it will work.

And thats my thought grizzly. My first truck was a 91 f150, i ran 15s with 33s. I would do it again with 15s if I could, love that big tire look. That whole project also cost me like 1200 for a 4 inch lift, wheels and tires...the glory days of yester-year...

I would always check with the lift manufacturer to check the recommended specs on the wheels required. Rancho had lifts that let you use the stock wheels...don't know if this is still true.

My previous truck was a 2010 FX4 with Bilsteins set to the highest position (~2.5")and 3" RL blocks in the rear. I ran Raptor take tires/wheels and I never rubbed.

I now have a 2014 with BOSS coilovers and a 3" block in the rear. I asked Alex to pre-set the coilovers to 2.75-3". I am using the same Raptor tires/wheels. There is not as much room on the 2014, but there is no rubbing so far. I can turn the wheels lock to lock without rubbing and no problems just driving on the road. Off-road, I wouldn't be surprised if I get some rubbing in certain situations.

Pics of both trucks are in my album uploads...
